Drawing practice

Drawing is a continuous and central part of Saleem’s practice, enabling the documenting, processing and exploration of ideas, forms and visual language.

In this series the architecture of the mosque in Britain is reimagined as a collection of disparate building parts that are reassembled in ad hoc and improvised ways. This reflects the experience of diaspora communities, who recompose and reconstruct their identities from fragments of their culture which they combine with influences from their new homeland.
